Road Closure Schedule Published for the Peace and Freedom Day Parade on July 20
In Northern Cyprus, a ceremonial parade will take place on July 20 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Cyprus Peace Operation - Peace and Freedom Day. Roads will be closed to traffic during the ceremony.
According to a press release from the police, on July 20 from 6:00 AM until the end of the ceremony, the road between the Honda traffic light intersection, Altınbaş, and Gönyeli roundabout will be closed to traffic.
Drivers are advised not to park their vehicles in the designated areas during the events and to follow traffic signs and signals.
The police have published detour routes for the closed sections:

For travel from Famagusta to Near East University, a detour will be organized from Near East Boulevard through the North Nicosia Ring Road.

For travel from Famagusta to Nicosia, a detour will be organized to the left from the Hamitköy roundabout, to Mimar Mehmet Vahip Street, then left from İsmail Beyoğlu Street or the Honda traffic light, and then through Mustafa Ahmet Ruso Street.

For travel from Famagusta to Güzelyurt, a detour will be organized via Gönyeli Roundabout through the North Nicosia Ring Road or via the Metehan-Alayköy Ring Road from the Citroën traffic light intersection on Mehmet Akif Street in Nicosia.

From Güzelyurt to Nicosia, the route will be via the Alayköy-Metehan Ring Road or Gönyeli Roundabout and Burhan Nalbantoğlu Street (State Hospital).

From Kyrenia to Nicosia, the route will be via the Kyrenia-Nicosia road, Gönyeli Roundabout, and Burhan Nalbantoğlu Street (State Hospital).
Drivers are strongly advised to follow the detour routes and heed the instructions of road signs and traffic officers. Additional road signs and indicators will be installed to guide drivers.
