LBT Health Department inspected 200 businesses: 8 received warnings

The Municipality of Lefkoşa continues inspections of food and service establishments — both during the day and in the evening. The inspections, carried out by the LBT Public Health Department, cover hygiene, food safety, and working conditions.
During a recent campaign, inspectors checked 200 businesses, including restaurants, bars, cafes, bakeries, hair salons, beauty parlors, markets, warehouses, and school canteens. Results:
• 8 businesses received written warnings,
• 27 were ordered to suspend operations temporarily,
• 1 business had its products confiscated,
• 2 underwent product destruction procedures.
Additionally, in October, specialists collected 16 water samples for laboratory testing to confirm compliance with sanitary standards.
LBT reminded that all businesses must ensure cleanliness and comply with health regulations. Failure to have a valid health certificate or business license results in fines.
The fine for working without a health certificate equals 50% of the minimum wage, while operating without a license incurs a fine equal to one minimum wage. The fee for obtaining a license is 4% of the minimum wage, and 0.5% for renewal.
Residents can also report violations via the 24-hour hotline Alo 185.
