TRNC Parliament Approves Prime Minister’s Budget
The General Assembly of the TRNC has approved the Prime Minister’s budget for 2025, amounting to 1 billion 969 million 523 thousand Turkish lira, with a majority vote.
During the session, independent MP Ayşegül Baybars and CTP MPs Sami Özuslu and Devrim Barçın addressed the assembly.
Lawmakers noted that the 2025 budget is largely identical to previous years, with the only significant difference being an increase in the deficit.
Revenues in the 2025 budget have not increased compared to last year, while the deficit has grown to nearly 14 percent. According to Baybars, there are no projections for economic recovery.
Among the key everyday challenges highlighted were the low standard of living, ongoing issues with electricity, and the lack of reliable population data for the country.
It is worth noting that the parliament had previously approved the budgets for the TRNC President and the Republican Assembly.
