“Independence Path” Party Holds Rally Demanding Public Transport System

The Workers’ Party Bağımsızlık Yolu (“Independence Path”) held a demonstration at the traffic light near the Prime Minister’s office, demanding the implementation of a public transport system. Participants held a banner reading “Don’t Suffocate in Traffic — Public Transport for Everyone!” and handed out leaflets to drivers and passersby.
In a statement, the party emphasized that the current transport system forces citizens to purchase private vehicles, which benefits fuel importers, insurance companies, and car dealerships, while the population bears increasing costs.
“Independence Path” representatives noted that public transport is not only a way to reduce traffic congestion but also an important step toward road safety, lowering accident rates, reducing air pollution, and decreasing dependence on fuel imports.
The party advocates for creating an accessible, environmentally friendly, and economical public transport system that, in their view, will benefit both individual citizens and society as a whole.
In the leaflet, the party stated: “We want not a system that enriches fuel importers, car dealers, and insurance companies, but a system that meets people’s mobility needs through a public-oriented approach.”
