The first day of the year on the roads of the TRNC: four accidents and a mass collision
On the first day of the new year in Northern Cyprus, four road traffic accidents occurred at once, one of which caused a serious public response. According to police, a driver who was behind the wheel while intoxicated lost control of the vehicle and crashed into 16 cars parked along the street.
Fortunately, there were no fatalities as a result of the incident, but significant material damage was caused. The other accidents recorded on January 1 were also linked to traffic violations and driver inattention.
The police once again reminded that driving under the influence remains one of the main causes of road accidents during the holidays and urged drivers to follow the rules and not get behind the wheel after consuming alcohol.
