Pilot Mistakes Runways at Ercan Airport
An investigation is underway at Ercan Airport in Northern Cyprus after a plane landed on the wrong runway due to a pilot's error.
The incident involved AJet flight VF 555 from Ankara to Ercan. The aircraft landed on runway 11L instead of runway 11R.
Reportedly, after the Ercan Air Traffic Control center detected that the Airbus A320 was approaching the wrong runway, a warning was issued to change runways.
Despite this warning, which was issued at an altitude of 50–60 feet, the plane continued its descent and landed on the incorrect runway. The investigation into the incident, caused by pilot error, is ongoing.
