TRNC Police Prepare for the New School Year
The General Directorate of TRNC Police (PGM) has taken the necessary security measures as the new school year in Northern Cyprus approaches. Police officers will be stationed at the entrances of schools and on roads around the institutions to ensure student safety.
The PGM’s Traffic Department has highlighted the expected traffic congestion in school zones ahead of the 2024-2025 academic year, which kicks off on Monday, September 16, 2024.
“We've implemented measures to ensure road safety by assigning officers at school entrances, so students can travel safely to and from school,” the police stated.
PGM also reminded parents that teaching road safety begins at home. Parents should talk to their children about how to stay safe on the roads.
In addition, the police urged drivers to avoid parking in front of school entrances and to strictly adhere to speed limits in school zones, keeping in mind that children’s behavior can be unpredictable.
As a reminder, the new school year for primary, middle, and high schools across the TRNC starts on Monday, September 16.
