Police Conducted Checks in Nicosia and Iskele in TRNC
Yesterday evening, the Northern Cyprus Police conducted simultaneous inspections of public order and road traffic in Nicosia and Iskele. Entertainment venues, places selling alcoholic beverages, nightclubs, markets, casinos, and other places with large gatherings of people were subjected to inspections.
According to the police press service, during the checks at casinos, 49 individuals were identified who are prohibited from visiting gambling establishments. Additionally, nine people were found to be residing in the country without residency permits and lacking any legal status.
As a result of the raid, legal proceedings were initiated against the owners of two establishments where alcoholic beverages were sold beyond the legally established hours.
During the road inspections, 1,952 vehicle drivers were examined, revealing 508 violators. Among them, 227 drivers were caught speeding, three individuals were found driving under the influence of alcohol, two were operating a vehicle without a license, and another six neglected insurance requirements. Furthermore, 124 drivers were caught talking on the phone while driving, and 131 violated other traffic rules. One driver was arrested, and movement was prohibited for 24 vehicles.
It is worth noting that in the previous week, it was reported that three people lost their lives in 66 accidents in Northern Cyprus, and 22 others sustained injuries.
