The personal envoy of the UN Secretary-General to Cyprus will once again arrive on the island. Maria Angela Holguín Cuéllar will meet with the President of the Republic of Cyprus, Nikos Christodoulides, and the leader of the Turkish Cypriots, Ersin Tatar.
According to a source from the Cyprus News Agency (CNA), the UN envoy for the Cyprus problem will arrive on the island on Tuesday evening. The meeting with the leaders of the two communities is scheduled for Wednesday, May 8th.
During her visit, Maria Angela Holguín Cuéllar will also meet with representatives of civil society and businessmen from both sides of the island.
The publication notes that earlier this week, Nicos Anastasiades stated that the upcoming week “will be critical” for the Cyprus issue.
Recall that the upcoming visit will be the third for the UN Secretary-General's envoy since the beginning of the year. The first stage of negotiations with the leaders of the two communities took place at the end of January, and the second in mid-March.
