President of TRNC Receives Personal Representative of UN Secretary-General in Cyprus
The President of the TRNC, Ersin Tatar, received the Personal Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General in Cyprus, María Ángela Holguín Cuéllar. The meeting began today at 12:00 in the Presidential Palace.
The delegation of the UN Special Representative was welcomed by the Deputy Secretary to the President, Okan Donangil. During the meeting, the Colombian diplomat was accompanied by advisor Patty Londono.
It is worth noting that María Ángela Holguín Cuéllar arrived on the island the day before. Following her appointment as the Personal Representative of the UN Secretary-General in January 2024, the diplomat is making her third visit to the island to find common ground for the resumption of negotiations between the two communities.
Before meeting with the leader of the Turkish Cypriots, the envoy held talks with the President of the Republic of Cyprus, Nikos Christodoulides.
It is expected that during the third round of negotiations, María Ángela Holguín Cuéllar will continue her contacts on the island until May 14.
