President Tufan Erhürman took part in a ceremony at the Martyrs’ Memorial in Lefkoşa
President Tufan Erhürman in Northern Cyprus took part in a ceremony at the Martyrs’ Memorial in Lefkoşa on December 21 as part of the National Struggle and Martyrs’ Remembrance Week (December 21–25).
The ceremony began with the laying of wreaths. After a minute of silence and the performance of the anthem during the raising of the flags, the President signed the memorial’s special book of remembrance.
In his note in the memorial book, Erhürman stated that Turkish Cypriots, while defending their identity and honor, paid the highest price and inscribed their names on these lands. He emphasized that the sacrifices made were not for an uncertain future and that this great struggle deserves a secure and equal life.
Erhürman also pointed out the duty to preserve what has been achieved and to ensure a peaceful and safe future for the children of the people. In conclusion, he paid tribute to the fallen and expressed words of gratitude and remembrance.
For residents of Northern Cyprus, this ceremony reflects the official position of the leadership on the necessity of security guarantees and social justice as a tribute to the victims and a commitment to future generations.
