Teachers' Union Protests Against Bullying at Çanakkale Secondary School
The Cyprus Turkish Secondary Education Teachers’ Union (KTOEÖS) staged a protest against bullying after a recent case of peer harassment was reported at Çanakkale Secondary School.
To take a stand against bullying among students, union members marched from Çanakkale Secondary School to the Victory Monument. Following the march, they issued a statement addressing broader issues in schools across Northern Cyprus.
Selma Eylem, President of the Turkish Cypriot Secondary School Teachers’ Union, expressed deep concern over the bullying incident that took place last week.
According to Eylem, many schools lack the necessary infrastructure to support full-day education, classrooms are overcrowded, and there is an ongoing shortage of teachers.
The union is calling on the TRNC Ministry of Education to take immediate steps to resolve these problems.
