Unions announce general strike in Northern Cyprus
The Cyprus Turkish Secondary Education Teachers' Union (KTOEÖS), on behalf of all trade union organizations, has announced a general strike on April 13.
According to the statement, a protest is scheduled for 10:00 AM in front of the TRNC Parliament building in Nicosia.
The unions criticized the government's economic policies and measures related to the rising cost of living. According to them, the consequences of the economic crisis are being shifted onto the workers.
The statement also mentions the intention to continue the fight against corruption, bribery, and, as the unions claim, the redistribution of state resources in favor of specific groups.
Organizations called on residents to join the protest, emphasizing that it is a fight for a decent life and a fairer economic system.
