Trade unions held a protest in Girne and made a statement at Dome Hotel
Trade unions in Northern Cyprus held a protest on Saturday and headed to the Girne waterfront (Kordonboyu), where they issued a statement at the Dome Hotel.
Earlier, union organizations gathered at the Atatürk Sports Hall and announced they would stage a protest following Prime Minister Ünal Üstel's return to the island. Police increased security measures near the head of government's residence and cordoned off the street where it is located.
As a result, the protesters changed their route and headed to the center of Kyrenia, where they made a public statement to the press. Union representatives criticized the government's actions and announced plans to continue protest actions.
Furthermore, the unions declared their intention to hold a nationwide strike on April 6.
