Inspections against illegal residency conducted in Lefke and İskele in Northern Cyprus
Joint raids to identify illegally residing and working foreigners were conducted in Lefke and İskele in Northern Cyprus, the Ministry of Interior — Migration Management Center reported. The operations took place on October 9, 2025.
The inspections involved district administrations, police, and mobile migration control units. During the activities, foreigners residing in the region had their residence permits and work status thoroughly checked.
In an official statement, the Ministry emphasized that the actions are aimed at maintaining public order, preventing unregistered employment, and ensuring the country's safety. The statement read: "No tolerance will be shown for illegal residence and unregistered work. Inspections will continue decisively; the country's security and public order come first."
The Ministry also announced that similar checks will be carried out in other districts in Northern Cyprus. Residents are advised to keep in mind that inspections are ongoing and that foreign citizens and employers’ permits and documents are being verified.
