Drunken drive in Girne ends in accident
A night drive through the streets of Girne ended in an accident due to a driver who got behind the wheel while intoxicated.
According to the police, the man lost control, the car veered off course, and an accident occurred. Fortunately, there were no serious injuries, but the driver was immediately detained — a test confirmed the presence of alcohol.
The incident has once again raised the issue of drunk driving, which remains one of the main threats on the roads of Northern Cyprus. Police emphasize that such “rides” often end not only with fines but also with tragedies.
Law enforcement authorities urged drivers not to turn night streets into risk zones and reminded them of strict measures against violators.
