African Dust to Linger Over Northern Cyprus Until Friday
The TRNC Department of Meteorology has issued an urgent warning due to a dust cloud from North Africa affecting air quality across the region. The dust is expected to remain in the atmosphere until Friday morning.
According to the forecast, the warning is in effect from 7:00 PM on Tuesday, April 22, until 6:00 AM on Friday, April 25.
“As the dust from North Africa is expected to contribute to air pollution in our area, we advise individuals who are sensitive to such conditions to take necessary precautions,” the department said in its statement.
This is not the first occurrence of its kind this year. A similar dust episode was reported in early April, with particles from Africa remaining in the air until the 9th.
