The customs officers’ union (Güç-Sen) stated that both customs staff and passengers are working under harsh conditions due to a malfunctioning air conditioning system at Kyrenia port, which has been out of order for about two months. The union announced a press conference and a one-hour warning strike at the port on Monday, July 21, at 09:00, as the problem remains unresolved.

In its statement, Güç-Sen said that negotiations with the relevant parties to resolve the issue have been ongoing for a month without results. The union highlighted the worsening conditions for workers and passengers and invited the public to visit Kyrenia port to witness the persistent problems firsthand.

The union demanded permanent and humane working conditions instead of temporary fixes and emphasized that the warning strike aims to raise awareness about the issue.
