Recep Tayyip Erdoğan Announces Weekend Visit to Northern Cyprus
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has announced that he will visit the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) this coming weekend. During his trip, Erdoğan is expected to inaugurate the newly built presidential palace and parliament building, attend the TEKNOFEST technology festival, and share positive news about upcoming investments and development projects in Northern Cyprus.
Speaking from the Presidential Complex after a Cabinet meeting, Erdoğan said:
“We’ll be in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus this weekend to officially open the new presidential palace and parliament building. We’ll also join our youth in celebrating TEKNOFEST. During the visit, we’ll share some good news regarding new investments and projects for our Turkish Cypriot brothers and sisters.”
The President also noted that before his visit to the TRNC, he would be traveling to Italy to participate in the 4th Intergovernmental Summit between Turkey and Italy.
Plans for Erdoğan’s visit to Northern Cyprus were first announced in early April. The official opening of the new presidential and parliamentary buildings in the TRNC is scheduled for May 3, while the first parliamentary session in the new building is set to take place on May 5.
