Flight Arrives in Ercan Without Passengers' Luggage
Last night, luggage was lost at Ercan Airport. Flight VF 161 of AJet from Istanbul arrived in Northern Cyprus without the passengers' belongings.
The aircraft, operated by a subsidiary of Turkish Airlines, landed in Ercan from Istanbul’s Sabiha Gökçen Airport at 20:15. Upon arrival, passengers found that their luggage was missing. It was later discovered that the bags had been left behind in Istanbul as they were not loaded onto the plane.
Local media reports indicate that AJet’s management has not issued any official statements regarding the missing luggage or apologized to the passengers.
After waiting several hours without any response from the airline, passengers reported their missing luggage at the lost and found department.
As of this morning, there has been no official announcement about when the issue will be resolved or how passengers can retrieve their belongings.
It was also reported that other passengers who flew from Sabiha Gökçen Airport the previous day experienced similar luggage issues. The airport stated that the problem was due to a malfunction in the baggage handling system.
