Russia does not plan to launch direct flights to the TRNC
Russia does not plan to establish direct flights to Northern Cyprus. This was stated in an interview with RIA Novosti by Yuri Pilipson, Director of the Fourth European Department of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
According to the diplomat, the position of the Russian Federation remains unchanged. Russia, as a permanent member of the UN Security Council, remains committed to the Security Council resolutions and the 1944 Chicago Convention on International Civil Aviation, and does not "see an alternative to reliance on international law."
- As is known, flights to Northern Cyprus are only operated by Turkey. In this sense, the situation has not changed for a long time, nor has our position on Cypriot affairs, - stated the Russian Foreign Ministry representative.
It should be noted that earlier the president of the TRNC stated that the authorities of Northern Cyprus are negotiating with the Russian side to open direct flights.
