From March 31, salaries in companies with 5 or more employees must be paid only via bank

The Ministry of Labour and Social Security of the TRNC has announced that enterprises with five or more employees are now required to pay salaries exclusively through banks or cooperatives.
The new rules will come into effect on March 31.
According to the amendments to the Labour Law passed by parliament:
- Monthly salaries and any payments to the employee, after all legal deductions, must be transferred to the employee's personal bank account.
From this date, employers covered by the law will no longer be able to pay salaries in cash.
The Ministry explained that the changes are aimed at:
- ensuring transparency of payments,
- combating undeclared employment,
- protecting workers' rights,
- strengthening legal certainty in the relationship between employee and employer.
The department warned that legal measures will be applied in case of violations.
Employers are advised by March 31 to:
- open the necessary bank accounts,
- align accounting and payroll systems with the new requirements.
