Road Accident Death Toll in Northern Cyprus Rises to Eight in 2025
An elderly motorcyclist has died in a traffic accident in Northern Cyprus, bringing the number of road fatalities this year to eight.

According to the police press office, the accident occurred yesterday on Ecevit Street in Kyrenia. 84-year-old Ahmet Aki was riding his motorcycle when he collided with a car traveling in the right lane.
The impact caused the motorcycle to overturn. Aki sustained severe injuries and was rushed to Açıkçek Hospital in Kyrenia. After undergoing surgery, he was transferred to the intensive care unit at Nicosia State Hospital. Despite doctors’ efforts, he did not survive.
Since the beginning of 2025, eight people have lost their lives in traffic accidents across the TRNC.
