Northern Cyprus to Be Covered by African Dust Again This Weekend
The Meteorological Department of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) has once again issued an urgent warning due to dust particles polluting the air. As before, the dust is blowing in from North Africa and is expected to linger over the region throughout the weekend.
The warning is set to remain in effect from 6:00 PM today until midnight on Monday, May 26.
“Because dust from North Africa can lead to air pollution in our area, we advise anyone who is especially sensitive to these conditions to take appropriate precautions,” the department said in its statement.
This follows a similar warning just last week, on May 16, when dust from Africa also affected the region.
