Union of Turkish Cypriot Nurses visited the Central Prison in Northern Cyprus
On October 10, 2025, the Union of Turkish Cypriot Nurses and Midwives (KTHEB) visited the Central Prison in Northern Cyprus and met with the nurses who were newly hired and had just begun their duties.
In a written statement, the president of the union, Ali Özgöçmen, said that during the visit, a meeting was held with the prison director and medical staff colleagues.
According to Özgöçmen, the meeting included an exchange of views, discussions of complaints and issues raised by employees, as well as proposals for their resolution. Common goals were set to improve the quality of medical services and create a more efficient working environment through interdepartmental cooperation.
Özgöçmen also noted that during the visit, union representatives congratulated prison guards on the occasion of World Prison Guard Day, celebrated on October 8. The statement emphasized the intention to strengthen coordination between medical and security units, improve working conditions, and enhance professional solidarity.
