Athlete from TRNC Secures Spot at 2024 Olympics in Paris
Buse Savaskan, representing the Athletics Federation of the TRNC, has earned the opportunity to compete at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. She is coached by Ukrainian specialist Gennadiy Zuyev.
Hailing from Northern Cyprus, Savaskan ranked 28th in the global rankings and is among the 32 athletes who will compete in the Olympic high jump event.
Qualifications for the 33rd Olympic Games, scheduled from July 26 to August 11 in Paris, took place from July 1, 2023, to June 30, 2024.
Earlier reports confirmed that during the final qualifying competitions held in Izmir from June 27 to 28, Savaskan became the Turkish champion. Over the qualification period, she accumulated 1201 points.
Her points secured her the 28th position among the 32 athletes set to participate in the Paris 2024 Olympics. Notably, her coach, Gennadiy Zuyev, is a Ukrainian specialist.
"We take pride in sending our athlete to the Olympic Games," said TRNC Athletics Federation President Ferhat Sakalli.
