Deadline for payment of property taxes and fees in TRNC extended by 60 days
The deadline for paying property taxes and fees in the TRNC for foreigners has been extended by 60 days. The Council of Ministers' decree, which has the force of law, has been published in the "Official Gazette".
- If the final approval of the property has not been obtained, the property division has not been completed, and independent ownership documents have not been issued, the buyer and seller will be required to pay all taxes and fees resulting from the sale transaction, which are legally required to be paid, within 60 working days from the date of publication of the purchase permit issued by the Council of Ministers in the "Official Gazette", - the document states.
It should be noted that the previous deadline for paying taxes expired on August 19, 2024. According to the document, due to various reasons, government agencies were not ready to timely accept payments from foreign buyers, so it was decided to extend the deadline by an additional 60 working days (starting from August 19).
It should be noted that the procedure for property registration and tax payment in Northern Cyprus may take some time. Additionally, such legal procedures cannot be performed by third parties, such as acquaintances, relatives, or representatives of real estate agencies without a valid work visa. Therefore, it is recommended to delegate this work to professionals.
