European University of Lefke students win international game development competition
Students of the Digital Game Design program at the Faculty of Communication Sciences of Lefke Avrupa Üniversitesi took first place at the VAULT JAM game competition.
The team, consisting of Duygu İrem El, Mehmet Kerim Artan, Berke Yaşar, and Erkan Berke Aksoy, won with their game XENO CARDS.
The competition, themed “Before It Fades,” brought together 20 teams from various universities. Participants had to create a game within 48 hours.
The winning team developed a strategic card game in which players have 10 minutes to save the world from an alien invasion. The game is built on fast decision-making and the correct use of cards, aiming to convey the feeling that time is rapidly running out.
The students noted that the victory was a confirmation of the important role played by their education and preparation at the university.
Interestingly, this is not the first success for EUL students: last year, a team from the Digital Game Design and Software Engineering programs also took first place at the GAME JAM organized by METU KALTEV.
