Newly Appointed KIB-TEK Executive Resigns
Kubilay Özkıraç, the former president of the Cyprus-Turkey Electricity Authority Workers' Union (EL-SEN), has resigned from his position as Chairman of the Board of Directors of KIB-TEK just days after his appointment on Tuesday.
According to Kıbrıs Postası, Özkıraç made this decision to prevent the institution from being drawn into further political debates.
“Boards of directors can function effectively and successfully only when they are built on trust, respect, and coordination. However, after my appointment, I felt it would be impossible to create such an atmosphere of trust. I will never allow KIB-TEK to be harmed in any way because of my involvement,” he said in his resignation statement. He also mentioned facing systematic attacks, blackmail, and threats from political opponents of the TRNC Prime Minister.
The leadership changes at KIB-TEK were made public just the day before. The former Chairman of the Board, Hüseyin Pasha, was dismissed, and Özkıraç was appointed in his place. The decision was officially published in the Official Gazette.
