Tragedy in Northern Cyprus: Young Man Dies After Car Falls Off Cliff
A heartbreaking incident occurred over the weekend in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), where a 21-year-old man lost his life after his car fell from a cliff.
According to police, the accident took place on Sunday morning near Lapta. A car parked along Kayalar Road, in the area of Aşıklar Hill, for reasons still unknown, rolled off a 50-meter cliff and crashed onto the rocks below. The driver, 21-year-old Yılmaz Kemal Özatlı, died at the scene.
An investigation is currently underway to determine what led to the tragedy. The funeral will be held today at Lapta Aşağı Mosque following the noon prayer. Yılmaz Kemal Özatlı will be laid to rest at the Lapta Cemetery.
In response to the incident, Lapta Mayor Fırat Ataser announced that safety barriers will be installed and additional measures will be taken at the viewpoint to prevent similar accidents in the future.
