Road section between Çatalköy and Ozanköy temporarily closed due to rainwater drainage works
On December 10, 2025, Çatalköy–Esentepe Mayor Ceyhun Kıroğlu announced that municipal crews have begun work on the road section between Çatalköy and Ozanköy in Northern Cyprus; as a result, the section on Sınır Street will be temporarily closed to traffic.
According to the municipality, the work is being carried out in an area where rainwater drainage slows down and puddles constantly form. To eliminate the obstacle, the edge of the existing concrete bridge was removed and the necessary restoration and regulatory works were carried out.
The announcement noted that the road closure is temporary and will be in effect during the works. The mayor urged residents and drivers to exercise increased caution when moving in this area and advised using alternative routes if possible until the repairs are completed.
The expected benefit of the works is the normalization of water drainage in the problematic section and the reduction of water accumulation on the roadway, which should decrease the risk of road surface damage and improve traffic safety.
