Morning Flight from Ercan to Istanbul Cancelled at the Last Minute
This morning, a flight from Ercan Airport to Istanbul was canceled. Passengers were informed of the cancellation at passport control.
According to local media reports, passengers were supposed to depart this morning on an AJet flight from Ercan Airport. However, during check-in, the flight was canceled. According to the online flight board available on flightradar24, this concerns flight VF160, originally scheduled to depart at 8:20 for Sabiha Gokcen Airport in Istanbul.
Passengers were not given an explanation for the cancellation or informed about when they would be provided with a new aircraft. As of 11:00, the flight status was listed as "unknown."
Some passengers have already left the airport. It has also been reported that some Turkish Republic citizens from the canceled flight were accommodated at the Acapulco Hotel.
Earlier, it was reported that the pilot of the same AJet flight from Istanbul to Northern Cyprus confused the runways at Ercan Airport. Whether these two events are connected is not specified.
