An awareness campaign on foreign objects on runways was held at Ercan Airport in Northern Cyprus

On November 4, 2025, at Ercan Airport in Northern Cyprus, a walk was organized to raise awareness about foreign objects (FOD) that can negatively impact flight safety. The event was organized by T&T Havalimanı İşletmeciliği with the participation of teams from Civil Havacılık, Istanbul Handling, Türk Hava Yolları, Pegasus Hava Yolları, and Kıbrıs Türk Petrolleri.
Among the foreign objects considered hazardous are: tire fragments, stones, sand, plastic bottles, paper, aluminum cans, newspaper and magazine scraps, pieces of cloth or rubber, bags, and similar items. Such objects on runways, aprons, and taxiways can compromise aviation safety.
The organizers noted that airport personnel regularly inspect and remove foreign objects from aircraft movement areas. Awareness activities are conducted periodically due to their positive contribution to flight safety. At the end of the walk, as part of a raffle, the winner was presented with a Turkish Airlines airplane model by the station chief at Ercan, Mustafa Talug.
