In Ercan Airport, Saddam Hussein was apprehended with a fake passport
A Pakistani citizen named Saddam Hussein was detained at Ercan Airport for attempting to enter Northern Cyprus with a counterfeit passport. The court sentenced him to one year of imprisonment.
The decision in this case was rendered by the criminal court in Nicosia yesterday. According to the investigation, on October 1, 2023, around 18:00, Pakistani citizen Saddam Hussein, arriving in the TRNC from Turkey, presented a fake Pakistani passport in the arrivals hall of Ercan Airport, under the name Kamara Abbas.
Immigration service personnel found the documents suspicious, after which the Pakistani individual was detained and sent to prison for further investigation and trial.
The judge noted that the crime committed by the suspect directly affects public interests and "tends to take on a mass character."
Considering all the facts, the court sentenced the suspect to one year of imprisonment.
