Entry controls tightened at Ercan Airport
Police checks for arriving passengers have been significantly tightened at Ercan Airport. Inspections have become stricter: special operations units, special investigation units, and the anti-narcotics department are working on site around the clock.
Law enforcement officers selectively stop individuals whose behavior appears suspicious and conduct thorough searches. K9 units are involved in the operation: service dogs inspect both the aircraft cabin and luggage in the baggage claim area.
Particular attention is paid to the purpose of the visit. If a passenger cannot clearly explain why they have arrived, or if the police have questions regarding their behavior or documents, they may be denied entry and sent back.
According to sources, the tightening of measures is linked to a rise in drug-related crimes in recent days.
