Rabbit prevents plane from landing at Sabiha Gökçen Airport
The incident occurred a few days ago at Sabiha Gökçen Airport. The pilot of a descending aircraft noticed a rabbit wandering on the runway.
After the pilot reported the situation to the control tower via radio, the air traffic controller ordered a runway inspection. Meanwhile, a Pegasus Airlines aircraft preparing to land on the Ercan–Istanbul route was forced to circle the runway.
When the pilot said he saw a rabbit on the runway, the controller replied: “Sir, if you can tell us the approximate location where you saw the rabbit, we can remove it,” which was recorded in the radio conversation. After an inspection, air traffic returned to normal.
