Commemoration Ceremony Held at Malya Martyrs' Memorial in Aydınköy

A commemoration ceremony was held at the Malya Şehitler Anıtı memorial in the village of Aydınköy, dedicated to the fallen heroes.
The event began with the laying of wreaths at the memorial in accordance with protocol. This was followed by a minute of silence, a ceremonial salute, and the performance of the national anthem.
Former teacher Ahmet Baydar delivered a speech, emphasizing that in the past, Turkish Cypriots waged a difficult struggle for existence, their land, identity, and honor. According to him, the events in Malya became a symbol of the Turkish Cypriot people's determination to live freely and maintain unity.
Baydar also noted that the martyrs paid for freedom with their lives, leaving a worthy legacy for future generations. At the same time, he emphasized the importance of not only freedom but also peace.
The Mayor of Güzelyurt, Mahmut Özçınar, also took part in the ceremony.
During the event, students from Aydınköy İlkokulu recited patriotic poems.
