In Çatalköy, a “Young Chefs’ Kitchen” has opened for schoolchildren

A new learning space — “Minik Şefler Mutfağı” (“Young Chefs’ Kitchen”) — has opened at the Çatalköy Primary School. The project was implemented with the support of the Çatalköy–Esentepe Municipality and the Tangül–Ünal Çağıner charitable foundation; the opening took place in a ceremonial setting.
According to Çatalköy–Esentepe Mayor Ceyhun Kyrok, the idea is for children to develop basic life skills from an early age — learning responsibility and how to work in a “real” kitchen environment, where observing safety rules is essential. It is also reported that recipes prepared by retired teacher Nurten Emiroğlu are planned to be compiled into a separate book and distributed to students — so that along with practice, the children also learn about local culinary traditions.
Foundation representative İçim Çağıner Kavuklu noted that the space is conceived not merely as a kitchen, but as a place where children will learn to interact, share, and create something together.
