Over 700 Kilograms of Illegal Meat Seized in Demirhan
Authorities in the TRNC have confiscated a large quantity of illegally imported meat, with the suspect already appearing in court and placed under a three-day detention order.
According to a police press statement, the incident took place in Demirhan in the early hours of March 9, at around 4:50 AM. Officers from the Nicosia Crime Prevention Unit conducted a search and discovered 713 kilograms of illegally imported meat inside a vehicle. The meat was seized as evidence.
The suspect, a man, was taken into custody and has already confessed.
During his court hearing, the accused stated that he had received the meat earlier that day from a friend in Akıncılar. He claimed they had arranged to meet at a fairground in Nicosia to distribute the meat to various retailers.
Police requested that the suspect be detained for three days to allow for further investigation. The judge granted the request, ordering the suspect to remain in custody for 72 hours.
