Man Caught Smuggling Cow and 10 Calves from South to North Cyprus
A man was arrested in Demirhan, Northern Cyprus, after allegedly smuggling a cow and 10 calves from the southern part of the island.
According to a police press release, the incident occurred on May 6. Officers from the Nicosia Police Department’s Crime Prevention Unit stopped the 60-year-old man and found the animals inside his vehicle. The livestock had reportedly been brought in illegally from the Greek Cypriot-administered south of the island.
Authorities confirmed that the animals had crossed without going through proper customs procedures and that no duties had been paid.
The suspect is currently in custody while police continue their investigation.
