Only One Polluted Beach Found in Dipkarpaz, Bafra, Famagusta, and Iskele
Authorities in Northern Cyprus have announced the latest results of water quality checks conducted at beaches in four regions: Dipkarpaz, Bafra, Famagusta, and Iskele.
The Ministry of Health released the findings, which revealed that only one beach, located in the Ayfilon municipality, was deemed polluted. All other beaches in the regions were found to be clean and safe for swimming.
The seawater analyses were carried out by the State Laboratory under a cooperation protocol between the Ministry of Tourism, Culture, Youth, and Environment and the Ministry of Health. This initiative, titled “Monitoring, Sampling, and Analysis of Seawater Quality in the TRNC,” aims to ensure the safety and cleanliness of the region's beaches.
The statement also noted that results from other regional beaches will be provided as soon as they are available.
It's important to recall that last week, water sample results from beaches across the country, collected in July, were published. These results sparked more questions than answers and drew criticism from local residents, officials, and environmentalists.
In response, the Kyrenia Municipality took the initiative to conduct its own water quality tests at local beaches using a private laboratory.
