Construction of the Region's Largest Sports Hall Nears Completion in Esentepe
Prime Minister Ünal Üstel visited the Prof. Dr. Turan Erdoğan sports hall under construction in Esentepe and stated that the facility is in its final stages. According to him, the project will be fully completed in the near future.
During the visit, the Prime Minister inspected the hall, spoke with athletes, and received briefings from officials. The total cost of the facility amounted to approximately 110 million Turkish Liras, with funding provided from local resources.
Üstel noted that the project began back in 2011, but its implementation was delayed due to political instability. Work accelerated after the current government took office.
The sports hall will be one of the largest in the country and will be used for all types of indoor sports. It holds particular significance for handball and volleyball—disciplines in which Esentepe traditionally shows strong results.
According to sports management and local authorities, the new facility will host not only training sessions and competitions but also cultural events, thanks to the inclusion of a stage and a protocol stand.
Local sports leaders noted that previously, athletes had to travel to other areas for training, but now the region will have modern infrastructure capable of fostering new victories.
