In Famagusta, Record Broken for Waste Collection During Timeframe
As part of the “Zero Waste Trash Collection Marathon," a new record has been set. During the Famagusta stage, participants collected 917 kilograms of waste in just one hour.
The "Zero Waste Trash Collection Marathon" is organized under the auspices of the Deputy Prime Minister, the Ministry of Tourism, Culture, Youth, and Environment, in collaboration with the Federation of Youth. The competition will be held in various cities across the TRNC throughout May.
At the Famagusta stage, held in cooperation with the Department of Environmental Protection, the Famagusta Youth Union, and the Iskele Youth Association, 15 teams competed.
A record was broken between stages: participants collected 917 kilograms of waste of various categories within one hour.
The marathon will conclude on May 25 with morning and evening stages in Lefke and Güzelyurt.
The award ceremony will take place on June 5 at the tourist port of Kyrenia as part of events dedicated to World Environment Day.
