FOUR PEOPLE DETAINED IN FAMAGUSTA ON SUSPICION OF COUNTERFEIT MONEY
Police in the Famagusta district conducted an operation resulting in the detention of four people found with suspicious banknotes.
According to police, the incident occurred on March 28 at approximately 12:50. Famagusta police officers stopped a car driven by a 45-year-old man. Three other individuals were in the vehicle: a 33-year-old man, a 40-year-old woman, and a 16-year-old teenager.
During the search, suspected counterfeit banknotes of various currencies were found in the possession of two passengers. These included:
- 40 banknotes of 100 Euros,
- 10 banknotes of 100 US Dollars,
- 10 banknotes of 50 US Dollars,
- 36 banknotes of 200 Turkish Lira,
- 2 banknotes of 50 Turkish Lira.
Police also seized five mobile phones as physical evidence.
All four individuals have been detained, and the investigation is ongoing.
