Car overturns on Karaoğlanoğlu Street in Kyrenia: two injured

On November 19, 2025, at around 19:00, a serious traffic accident occurred on Karaoğlanoğlu Street in Kyrenia: one of the vehicles overturned, leaving two people injured.
According to the police, 27-year-old driver Mehmet Kaya, driving a car with the license plate HY 159, was travelling in the left lane in an eastbound direction and lost control of the vehicle due to negligence. The car veered off its course and hit a vehicle with the plate YH 060, driven by 60-year-old Yusuf Karabulut.
As a result of the impact, Yusuf Karabulut’s car was thrown to the left side of the road, hit the curb and overturned, coming to rest on its roof. The driver, Yusuf Karabulut, and his wife, Fatima Karabulut, who was in the car as a passenger, were injured in the accident. The injured were taken to Dr. Burhan Nalbantoğlu State Hospital in Nicosia, where they remain under medical supervision.
The driver of the second vehicle, Mehmet Kaya, has been detained by the police. An investigation into the accident is underway.
