About 1 g of cocaine seized from a car in Kyrenia during a search — three arrested
On September 7, 2025, the police in Kyrenia detained three people in connection with an illegal drug possession case, according to a press release from the regional police department. The search was conducted by the Crime Prevention Unit (CÖŞ).
According to the police, during a stop and inspection of a car driven by A.I. (male, 33) with A.T. (male, 40) as a passenger, a substance suspected to be cocaine, weighing approximately 1 gram, traces of cocaine on clothing, as well as a glass pipe and two spoons used for drug consumption were found and seized. The items were taken as evidence, and two men were immediately arrested.
During further investigation, a third suspect, M.T. (male, 49), was identified and detained, police clarified. All three remain in custody pending further procedural actions.
For residents of Northern Cyprus, this means active law enforcement in the region: if suspicious items or persons are observed, the police ask that they be reported through official phone numbers and remind that possession and distribution of drugs carry criminal liability.
