Road widened near Rauf Raif Denktaş Square in Girne

Over the past two nights, the Municipality of Girne has carried out work to widen the roadway near the traffic lights at Rauf Raif Denktaş Square. The lane for turning towards Lefkoşa has been widened, and this section of the road now has three lanes.

The municipality reported that in the next phase, the road will be widened in the northern direction. There are also plans to create a fourth lane for turning towards the city center and to establish a dedicated lay-by for public transport stops.

The Mayor of Girne, Murat Şenkul, noted that the implementation of the project required significant preparation, including project design, signing protocols, and conducting tenders.

"Those who do not know the background might ask, 'What’s the big deal?'. But a lot of work went into these changes. It is gratifying to see our ideas being realized step by step. Less talk, more action," he stated.
