Two men injured in two workplace accidents in Kyrenia
On September 10, 2025, two separate workplace incidents occurred in the Kyrenia area, resulting in injuries to two workers, according to the police press service.
In the morning, at a carpentry workshop in Kyrenia, 57-year-old Mehmet Güleryüz caught three fingers of his hand in a cutting machine while working and was injured. According to the police, the injured person was taken to the Dr. Burhan Nalbantoğlu State Hospital in Nicosia, where he received medical care and remains under observation. An investigation into the circumstances continues.
Near the Kyrenia–Alsancak road around noon, 20-year-old Bilash Hossen was repairing a wall and, after climbing onto a pipe approximately 3 meters high, lost his balance and fell onto the concrete surface. The victim’s condition was assessed at Dr. Burhan Nalbantoğlu Hospital and then he was transferred to the Near East University (Yakın Doğu) Hospital in Nicosia to the general surgery department, where he remains under observation. A police investigation into the fall is also ongoing.
The need to comply with occupational safety rules remains relevant: protective guards on machines, the use of personal protective equipment when working at heights, and supervision by employers to prevent similar incidents.
