Woman Arrested in Girne for Using a Lost Bank Card

A young woman was detained in Girne after she used a bank card she had found on the street to make purchases.

According to the police, 20-year-old E. I. found someone else’s card and used it in several shops. The total amount of the illegal transactions reached 3,541 Turkish lira. After an investigation and collection of evidence, the suspect was arrested and taken into custody.

The police report also mentions other incidents that occurred in the region. In Polis (Güzelyurt), 24-year-old M. K. V. unlawfully entered the home of 42-year-old S. T. and assaulted him. The victim sustained fractures to the bones on the left side of his face.

Later the same day, around 18:00, M. K. V. and an acquaintance went to another house, where 69-year-old T. U. lived. The attacker inflicted serious injuries on the man, including broken ribs. A 23-year-old woman, S. K. I., who was in the house, was also injured after being struck in the face. The suspect has been detained, and the investigation is ongoing.

Separately, the police reported hunting violations. In Dipkarpaz, 41-year-old H. T. was caught hunting in a prohibited area, while 75-year-old M. A. was engaged in hunting from a vehicle in the Kaleburnu area. Administrative procedures have been initiated against both offenders.

During a nationwide inspection, authorities also identified 12 individuals residing in the country illegally. All of them were detained, and further investigation is underway.

In addition, several traffic accidents involving drunk drivers were recorded in the past 24 hours. Incidents occurred in Alsancak and on the Lefkosa–Güzelyurt highway. The injured were taken to hospitals, and the responsible drivers were arrested.
