The 17th Pekmez Festival in Ozanköy concluded in Kyrenia
The 17th Pekmez Festival in Ozanköy (Kyrenia) has concluded — the event was held as part of the Girne Arkın Group Fest 25, the Kyrenia Municipality reported.
According to the municipality, on the last day of the festival there was a demonstration of making carob dessert (traditional sweet) led by Fezile Barut, a sweets competition with pekmez, and a lecture by agricultural engineer Mehmet Atak titled "The Carob Tree — One of the Oldest Heirs of the Earth and Its History." The program also included dance performances by the Northern Cyprus Filipino Association, a concert by Ebru and Amor Latino, a performance by the Nostalgic Folk Dance Ensemble of the Çatalköy–Esentepe Municipality, and a concert by İbrahim Özbaşkın with the Zek & Orkestrası orchestra.
The municipality also announced upcoming events of Girne Arkın Group Fest 25: September 3 — festive opening parade, dance performances, and Candy Club on Broadway show, Nafiz Dölek concert at the Atatürk bust stage on Kordonboyu; September 4 — performance by the band Yeni Türkü on the same stage. For the first time, "youth concerts" are planned in the Western Nature Park of Kyrenia: three-day performances featuring Teoman, Yüzyüzeyken Konuşuruz, Reva, Manga, Gece Yolcuları, Fikri Karayel, Athena, and others.
For residents and visitors of the island, this means additional cultural and musical events in the coming days and possible increased visitor numbers and traffic around Kordonboyu and the Western Nature Park of Kyrenia — plan trips and parking in advance.
